I decided to travel north to my hometown of Kerikeri prior to the country locking down. At the moment, a nationwide lockdown doesn’t make much difference up north. It is still tranquil as ever, seemingly winterless and not a single decibel can be heard during the night. The only difference is that there are no boats out on the water and there’s a line to get into the supermarket.

Being able to enjoy little luxuries that I wouldn’t otherwise be patient enough to enjoy in a big city busy lifestyle has been refreshing. Even if it’s simply making coffee on the stovetop, cooking oats instead of microwaving instant packets or not having to shave my beard - it makes all the difference toward better physical and mental health.

I could have enough time on my hands (as I'm sure most of us do) to become the next Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor of Darts, but I'll also be using this time wisely to plan for action once this has all ended and maybe, if I’m lucky, beat the local dart connoisseur down at the pub.

Stay indoors and stay sane
